As it all comes to an end, it is time to dedicate a little bit of this blog to you.
As I sit at Starbucks waiting for the time to come, when I have to stand and get my ass to Changi, I have Madalena on the table next to me crying like a baby looking at pictures of our amazing exchange program. I feel I cannot (lah) leave the “city of the lion” without leaving an eternal “goodbye and thank you very much” statement, so here it goes.
First I have to address the Portuguese Armada: Filipe, Francisco, David and Joao.Thank you very much for all the moments we had, good or bad, laughs or arguments, they were all worth millions. The parties, the clubbing nights, the trips, the meals, and the study time (hahaha). Three of you I didn’t know, one I wasn’t even very fond of, but there is no question that we became a very united armada, “unha com carne” as we say back home.
Next word goes to the lady of the family, the one who help us keep, a little, of level and not become total animals. Madalena, who I very kindly renamed Marlene. She was the one who we all ran to when we couldn’t see each other anymore. She put up with all the shit and filth of all the guys she was always with, and didn’t complain once, very un-Portuguese of her. THANK YOU MARLENE!
Alberto, my roommate. Agreeing to live with 4 Italians through facebook was a very risky move, but I have zero regrets on this matter. Our lucky draw, to choose rooms and mates, made me get stuck to you, and it was amazing. Our 16 Cº room was a very nice place to run to whenever we needed. Our long nights on Skype, Msn or watching Champions League were all moments to remember later.
Mathieu. French? Italian? Nobody really knows, but he is probably the only Franco-Italian who can cook Portuguese food like a Portuguese. Sharing home with you was an incredible experience. Your capacity of sitting in front of the computer, pretending you were studying, and later make fun of me because I woke up too early (around 6 in the afternoon) is something my mind shall never set me free of. Also, the number of times our friend, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, sang his song while I beat you on the PES09 was my secret weapon. I thought now was the right time to tell you the truth…
Carlo “cullo” Galli. We certainly did not start o the right foot, but what first looked like a war, soon became a “love hatred” relationship. The number of times that you had to get out of bed to tell me to shut up, was definitely topped by the number of times you humiliated me with fucking Sampdoria “… GRANDE DORIAAAAAA”. Hope you come visit in Lisbon, I’ll show you is GRANDE, remember: Lacy is a KILLER.
Mattias, the old, wise, and double sided Mattias. Mattias when sober, Nicky when drunk, this man was probably the person who thought us more things through this whole experience (although I gave pretty good Vocabulary lessons). His 26 years of life experience, full of different achievements and experiences, allowed him to pass tons of knowledge to his “sons”. And did we make him proud or what? Good grades, crazy nights, beerlimpics, Zeno’s eye! A proud proud father he became….
Geneva, the midget. Thank you for teaching Mattias not to look for vacancies in Bali. Canada is definitely too far, but if you ever stop by Portugal give us a call, we will get you a Frisbee, and dance for you…
Cuci, cuci cuci cuci cuciu… What can I say? You had the time of your life… So did we, in fostering you. I became in love with Turkish people, Turkish food, Turkish language, Turkish doctors (pills, to be more precise). I am really happy you already booked your flight to Lisbon; we will be waiting for you at Portela!
Elif, I will marry you! As soon as I memorize that sentence that makes me a Muslim, I will fly to Turkey and you will cook for me forever, and after… It was so funny how you, I, Cuci and Joao met in CC class, not exactly love at first sight, was it?
Michelanzaaaa. Ciao Paneleiro Catzo di Merda! I hope you were able to kill your brother already. You are probably the funniest guy I ever met, thank you for being in my MKT class, and for travelling with us through Myanmar… See you in Sardinia, when I put some money there…
Bing, unluhy hatzo, I heard there will be an exchange reunion at the Bing vineyard with wine tasting included, along with some other interesting stuff (Bing “cooking” would be good).
Kevin, she will suffer, one day. Don’t worry too much buddy…
